We are pleased to invite you to a special listening session with Mark van Yetter who will play selections from his collection of original shellac records, featuring historic music recordings from around the world produced between 1910 and 1950. The presentation begins with an introduction providing a brief overview of early recording practices, followed by a listening session illustrating them. This event accompanies Mark van Yetter's exhibition Nemesis at STATIONS, which is on view until October 19th.
Alongside his artistic practice, Mark van Yetter has for many years dedicated himself to the collection and digital preservation of historic vernacular recordings. From November 2021 to January 2023, he hosted The Hour of Music Music Hour on Cashmere Radio, a program drawn from his record collection. All 14 episodes can be accessed on the Cashmere Radio website.
