Screening of Sideritis
A 45-minute journey following the rhythm of shepherds around Savrun Valley in the Amanus Mountains.
As the spring arrives, herds and nomads trace invisible paths from the plains to the Taurus Mountains in Anatolia. Following the rhythm of the remaining shepherds, the film drifts between water bodies and mountains, between memory and disappearance of the nomadic ecologies. Through sounds of the wind, goats, pastures and forest, it listens to the remains of nomadic life, the echoes carried by the haunted landscape. Mountain tea will be served.

Weaving Commons
Workshop with Merve Çanakçı, exploring patterns, colours, and commons
Searching for affiliations across borders and cultures, this workshop invites participants to engage with the textures of nomadic pastoralism. Using the fragments of the nomadic assembly, such as centuries-old patterns and wools from different geographies, we will explore fibres, colours, and patterns through various modes of weaving. This session is an invitation to experiment with materials to "reweave" the interdependencies and commons embedded in weaving knowledge.
MERVE ÇANAKÇI is an artist from Ordu, Turkey. She studied painting at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul. The extensive list of her international exhibitions include solo shows at Artsümer Gallery, Istanbul and group shows i.a. in Apartment Project, Ark Kültür, National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC, and 48 Stunden Neukölln. She lives and works in Berlin.

On Fibres and Bonds
Conversation with Selen Solak on wool, synthetics, and the landscapes of fibre across geographies.
This conversation examines the material shift from natural to synthetic fibres and its profound impact on the landscape. By looking at different fibres, wool, cotton, acrylic, and polyamide, we will trace the micro and macro relationships established through these materials. We will discuss the ecological potential of fibre cultures across geographies and speculate on their future.
SELEN SOLAK is an artist and researcher working across various media, including scientific and artistic publishing, installations, and video. Her practice spans both personal and collaborative projects, critically engaging with the spaces between art and science to explore everyday relations, scientific environments, and technologies. She has recently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and Humboldt Universität zu Berlin.
Nomadic Assembly is part of Dilşad Aladağ’s doctorate research ‘Weaving Reeds Between Two Rivers’ that she pursues at the Bauhaus University of Weimar Arts and Design program. The research focuses on material fragments, archival traces, and digital testimonies of nomadic pastoralism in southern Anatolia, transforming silenced histories into active agents that reclaim their situated knowledge and dissolve nationailst narratives. Historically, the dynamic movement of pastoralists across the Taurus Mountains was restricted by 19th-century sedentarisation policies, causing their ecological knowledge to be appropriated into state ethnography and identity politics. Aladağ’s practice critiques that transformation by approaching the remnants of pastoralist ecologies as an opportunity for collective dialogue and transcultural exchange on the commons of the nomadic pastoralism. The Assembly is centred around an assemblage of fragments, including institutional publications, fictional narratives, laments, images, and films, alongside animal and vegetal matters, that explore the local and yet planetary threads of pastoralist knowledge. Throughout the days the Assembly is presented, these materials will be activated through gatherings, workshops, screenings and readings. This will generate a collective dialogue that strips away formal historiography and reconnects with the present through the testimonies of the afterlife in the ruins of modernity.
Dilşad Aladağ is a researcher and practitioner working across the fields of art, architecture, and film. Her work explores the politics of landscapes and their relationship to knowledge production, focusing on spatial and ecological dynamics and the performance of power and resilience. For her practice-based doctorate research at Bauhaus University of Weimar, Aladağ explores the entangled ecologies and stories of nomadic pastoralism and bodies of water in Çukurova, Turkey.

Baharın gelmesiyle birlikte, sürüler ve göçebeler Anadolu'nun ovalarından Toros Dağları'na doğru uzanan kadim, görünmez yolları takip ederler. Film, bu dağların son çobanlarının yaşam ritmine eşlik ederek, su kaynakları ile dağlar arasında, göçebe ekolojilerin canlı hafızası ile kayboluşun eşiği arasında bir yolculuğa çıkar. Rüzgarın, keçilerin, meraların ve ormanın sesleri aracılığıyla, göçebe hayvancılıktan kalan izleri ve tekinsiz bir manzaranın taşıdığı yankıları dinler.

Merve Çanakçı kolaylaştırıcılığında Müşterekleri Dokumak Atölyesi: Desenler ve renklerle ortaklıkların keşfi.
Sınırların ve kültürlerin ötesindeki bağları araştıran atölye, odak noktasını göçebe hayvancılığın ördüğü ilişkilere çeviriyor. Yüzyıllık desenler ile farklı coğrafyalardan gelen yünler gibi "göçebe meclisine" ait unsurlar kullanılarak; liflerin, renklerin ve motiflerin dokunma süreçleri uygulamalı keşiflerle ele alınıyor. Katılımcıları dokuma bilgisinin doğasında bulunan müşterekleri ve bağlantıları materyaller aracılığıyla yeniden kurmayı denemeye davet ediyor.
MERVE ÇANAKÇI, Türkiye'nin Ordu kentinden bir sanatçıdır. İstanbul Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi'nde resim eğitimi almıştır. Lifler ve Bağlar Üzerine
Selen Solak kolaylaştırıcılığında, yün, sentetikler ve kültürlerarası lif peyzajlarına odaklanan bir sohbet.
Buluşma doğal liflerden sentetik liflere geçişin malzeme odağında yarattığı değişimi ve bunun peyzaj üzerindeki derin ekolojik etkilerini ele alıyor. Yün, pamuk, akrilik ve poliamid gibi farklı liflere yeni bir gözle bakılacak; bu malzemeler aracılığıyla kurulan mikro ve makro ölçekteki ilişkilerin izi sürmeye odaklanıyor. Katılımcıları farklı coğrafyalardaki lif kültürlerinin ekolojik potansiyelini tartışmaya ve bu liflerin geleceği üzerine düşünmeye davet ediyor.
Selen Solak, bilimsel ve sanatsal yayıncılık, enstalasyon ve video gibi farklı disiplinlerde üretim yapan bir sanatçı ve araştırmacıdır. Bireysel ve kolektif çalışmalarıyla sanat ve bilim arasındaki sınırları eleştirel bir bakış açısıyla inceler; gündelik ilişkileri, bilimsel ortamları ve teknolojileri araştırmalarının odağına alır. Kendisi en son Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin ve Humboldt Universität zu Berlin'de doktora sonrası araştırmacı olarak görev yapmıştır.
Göçebe Meclis, Dilşad Aladağ’ın Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Sanat ve Tasarım programı kapsamındaki İki Nehrin Arasında başlıklı doktora araştırmasının bir parçasıdır. Çukurova bölgesindeki göçebe hayvancılığın izlerini süren malzemeleri, arşiv belgelerini ve dijital tanıklıkları bir araya getiir. Kayıt dışı kalmış anlatıları yeniden görünür kılarken, yerel bilginin geri kazanılması ve milliyetçi anlatıların çözülmesinde aktif birer özneye dönüştürmeyi amaçlar. Tarihsel olarak, Toros Dağları üzerindeki göçer toplulukların dinamik yaşam biçimi, 19. yüzyıl iskan politikalarıyla kısıtlanmıştır. Bu süreçte, göçebelerin ekolojik bilgisi, devlet etnografyası ve kimlik politikaları tarafından araçsallaştırılmıştır. Aladağ’ın sanatsal pratiği bu tarihsel süreci sorgular; konargöçer ekolojilerin günümüze ulaşan izlerini, göçebe çobanlığın müşterekleri üzerine kurulu kolektif bir diyalog ve kültürlerarası bir etkileşim alanı olarak ele alır. Göçebe Meclis, kurumsal yayınlar, kurgusal hikayeler, ağıtlar, imgeler ve filmler gibi çeşitli araçların yanı sıra hayvansal ve bitkisel dokuları içeren bir seçki etrafında şekillenir. Bu seçki, göçebe çobanların ekolojik bilgisinin yerel ve bir o kadar da gezegensel bağlarını araştırmaya odaklanır.
Açık stüdyo boyunca meclis; buluşmalar, atölyeler, gösterimler ve okumalar aracılığıyla canlanacak. Bu süreç, resmi tarih yazımının kalıplarını zorlayan ve modernitenin yarattığı yıkıntılar arasında geride kalanların tanıklıkları vasıtasıyla günümüzle yeniden bağ kuran kolektif bir diyalog zemini oluşturmayı hedefler.

Mekânsal ve ekolojik dinamiklere odaklanarak, peyzajın politikasını ve bilgi üretim süreçlerini, iktidar ve direnç biçimleri üzerinden inceler. Şu anda, Weimar Bauhaus Üniversitesi'ndeki uygulamaya dayalı doktora araştırması kapsamında, Türkiye'nin Çukurova bölgesindeki göçebe hayvancılık ve su kütlelerinin iç içe geçmiş ekolojileri ve hikâyeleri üzerine odaklanmaktadır.

Sideritis, Filmvorführung: Eine 45-minütige Reise im Rhythmus der Hirten rund um das Savrun-Tal in den Amanus-Bergen.
Mit dem Frühling folgen Herden und Nomaden unsichtbaren Pfaden von den Ebenen hinauf in das Taurusgebirge in Anatolien. Dem Rhythmus der verbliebenen Hirten folgend, bewegt sich der Film zwischen Gewässern und Bergen, zwischen Erinnerung und dem Verschwinden nomadischer Lebensweisen. Durch die Klänge von Wind, Ziegen, Weiden und Wald lauscht er den Spuren des nomadischen Lebens, den Echos, die die durchdrungene Landschaft trägt. Bergtee wird serviert.

Weaving Commons, Workshop mit Merve Çanakçı: Erkundung von Mustern, Farben und Allmenden
Auf der Suche nach Verbindungen über Grenzen und Kulturen hinweg lädt dieser Workshop dazu ein, sich mit den Texturen des nomadischen Pastoralismus auseinanderzusetzen. Ausgehend von Fragmenten nomadischer Zusammenhänge – wie jahrhundertealten Mustern und Wollen aus unterschiedlichen Regionen – erkunden wir Fasern, Farben und Muster in verschiedenen Webtechniken. Diese Session ist eine Einladung, mit Materialien zu experimentieren, um die in der Webkunst eingebetteten Abhängigkeiten und Allmenden neu zu „verweben“.
MERVE ÇANAKÇI ist eine Künstlerin aus Ordu, Türkei. Sie studierte Malerei an der Mimar Sinan Universität der Schönen Künste in Istanbul. Ihre umfangreiche Liste internationaler Ausstellungen umfasst Einzelausstellungen in der Artsümer Gallery in Istanbul sowie Gruppenausstellungen u. a. im Apartment Project, bei Ark Kültür, im National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., und bei 48 Stunden Neukölln. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.

On Fibres and Bonds, Gespräch mit Selen Solak: über Wolle, Synthetik und die Faserlandschaften über verschiedene Regionen hinweg.
Dieses Gespräch untersucht den materiellen Wandel von Natur- zu synthetischen Fasern und seine tiefgreifenden Auswirkungen auf die Landschaft. Anhand verschiedener Fasern – Wolle, Baumwolle, Acryl und Polyamid – verfolgen wir die Mikro- und Makrobeziehungen, die durch diese Materialien entstehen. Zudem sprechen wir über das ökologische Potenzial von Faserkulturen über verschiedene Regionen hinweg und wagen einen Ausblick auf ihre Zukunft.
SELEN SOLAK ist Künstlerin und Forscherin und arbeitet medienübergreifend, unter anderem in wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Publikationen, Installationen und Video. Ihre Praxis umfasst sowohl eigene als auch kollaborative Projekte und setzt sich kritisch mit den Schnittstellen zwischen Kunst und Wissenschaft auseinander, um Alltagsbeziehungen, wissenschaftliche Umgebungen und Technologien zu erforschen. Zuletzt war sie als Postdoktorandin am Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin und an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin tätig.
Nomadic Assembly ist Teil der Doktorarbeit von Dilşad Aladağ mit dem Titel „Weaving Reeds Between Two Rivers“, die sie im Rahmen des Arts-and-Design-Programms an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar verfolgt. Die Arbeit versammelt materielle Fragmente, archivische Spuren und digitale Zeugnisse des nomadischen Pastoralismus in Südanatolien und verwandelt zum Schweigen gebrachte Geschichten in aktive Träger*innen situierten Wissens, wodurch nationalistische Narrative aufgelöst werden.
Historisch wurde die dynamische Bewegung der Hirt*innen über das Taurusgebirge hinweg durch Sesshaftmachungspolitiken des 19. Jahrhunderts eingeschränkt. Dadurch wurde ihr ökologisches Wissen in staatliche Ethnografie und Identitätspolitik überführt und angeeignet. Aladağs Praxis kritisiert diese Transformation, indem sie die Überreste pastoraler Ökologien als Anlass für kollektiven Dialog und transkulturellen Austausch über die Allmenden des nomadischen Pastoralismus begreift.
Die Assembly ist um eine Zusammenstellung von Fragmenten herum organisiert – darunter institutionelle Publikationen, fiktionale Erzählungen, Klagelieder, Bilder und Filme sowie tierische und pflanzliche Materialien –, die die lokalen und zugleich planetaren Fäden pastoralen Wissens erkunden. Während der Tage, an denen die Assembly präsentiert wird, werden diese Materialien durch Zusammenkünfte, Workshops, Vorführungen und Lesungen aktiviert. So entsteht ein kollektiver Dialog, der sich von formaler Geschichtsschreibung löst und über die Zeugnisse eines Nachlebens in den Ruinen der Moderne wieder eine Verbindung zur Gegenwart herstellt.
Dilşad Aladağ ist Forscherin und Künstlerin, die in den Bereichen Kunst, Architektur und Film tätig ist. Ihre Arbeit untersucht die Politik von Landschaften und deren Beziehung zur Wissensproduktion, mit einem Fokus auf räumliche und ökologische Dynamiken sowie auf die Inszenierung von Macht und Resilienz. Für ihre praxisorientierte Doktorarbeit an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar erforscht Aladağ die verflochtenen Ökologien und Geschichten des nomadischen Pastoralismus sowie die Gewässer in Çukurova, Türkei.
